The Healthy Eating Specialist trains and educates Team Members and Customers in Whole Foods Markets healthy eating programs and initiatives through the use of Global and Regional resources. This will include facilitating structured trainings in the areas of making healthy choices in cooking, shopping, eating and menu planning. All Specialists must successfully complete and maintain Whole Foods Market recognized certifications and trainings. In addition, they must stay current on all Global and Regional initiatives and programs. This Team Member will not be a dietary coach, but a point of contact which directs Team Members and Customers to the appropriate resources that empower them to make their own best decisions.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Other Duties: - Set, and achieve, the highest standards in retail execution.
- Take responsibility for the complete maintenance of the department.
- Order product from vendors as appropriate.
- Achieve required margin targets for department.
- Support all regional and global programs and policies.
- Work all inventories as required, and monitor inventory levels and purchase journals.
- Meet all accounting deadlines.
- Uphold all standards pertaining to cleanliness and HACCP programs.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary department.
- Report all life safety and fire hazards to your Team Leader for correction.
- Comply with all occupational safety and health regulations.
- Report all accidents and injuries to your Team Leader or Store Leadership immediately.
Regulatory Compliance:Maintain comprehensive knowledge of, and ensure compliance with relevant regularity rules and standards, including: Other Duties - Maintains medical supplies, office supplies, and office equipment.
- Assists in hiring by placing employment ads, arranging job fairs, setting up interviews, and screening applicants.
- Maintains Team Member forms and files.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required: - A working understanding of food knowledge and experience in healthy eating, cooking and menu planning that span the range of diets including vegan, vegetarian, fish, and meat and poultry.
- Health-supportive nutrition/health and wellness education, a plus.
- Passion for natural/organic foods.
- Avid Healthy Lifestyle advocate and enthusiast.
- Demonstrated ability to train small and large groups in various venues.
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
- Proven ability to synthesize and convey complex information to Team Members and customers in a way that is appropriate for varied audiences.
- Ability to work successfully without supervision, and as a self-directed, yet collaborative, team player.
- Strong demonstrated Customer Service skills.
- Good computer proficiency skills, including Microsoft office and presentation software.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure of tight deadlines and changing demands and/or directions.
- Able to perform physical requirements of position, as listed below.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Flexibility for all shifts, days, and schedules. Hours may vary, including a combination of both weekdays and weekends.
